China's Wang fails to grab gold

China's Olympic gold hopeful Wang Beixing lost to Germany's Jenny Wolf in the women's 500-meter final at the ISU Speed Skating World Cup in Berlin Monday.

Wang, 24, skated 37.94 seconds, beating Dutch Annette Gerritsen in 38.27 seconds in the same group. But she didn't surpass Wolf's result of 37.52 seconds, winning the silver after the home favorite.

After the race, Wang and Wolf shared the top spot on the skaters' standings, with 180 points each.
